Steven M. Senger, 73, a 14 year resident of Paradise passed away surrounded by his family, December 21, 2018 in Chico. He is preceded in death by a daughter Welda, his brother Richard and his father Weldon Senger. He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Heidi ( Rigoni ) Senger and two Daughters Stephanie (John) Bohannon of Chico and Renee (Kelly) Layton of West Valley City, Utah. Grandchildren Brenden and Bailey Bohannon and Weldon, Porter and Mia Layton.
Steven was born and raised in San Francisco. At age 18 he joined the United States Marine Corps and was very proud to serve his country. Steve was wounded August of 1965 in Vietnam and was permanently retired from the U.S.M.C. in 1966 at the age of 21. Steve and Heidi were married on June 10, 1967 and lived in San Francisco. In January of 1972 Steve and Heidi moved to Petaluma and lived there for 34 years.Steve was a machinist and tool and dye craftsman for 36 years at the same company, Weichhart Stamping Co. in San Francisco.Steve retired in November of 2002. In September of 2004, Steve and Heidi moved to Paradise. Steve had belonged to the VVA chapter in Petaluma, the Paradise Elks Lodge #2026 and the Paradise S.I.R.'s
After the Camp Fire on November 8, 2018, Steve and Heidi moved to Chico to stay with their daughter, son-in-law and two grandchildren.Steve had been fighting cancer since 2015. Steve enjoyed woodworking, but most of all loved spending time with his family.
On Saturday, December 29, there will be a short service for Steve at the LDS Meetinghouse ( 2430 Mariposa Avenue, Chico ) at 11:00 A.M.. A luncheon for friends and family will be held following the memorial service at a diffent location.
