On Sunday, July 24th, 2022 in Oroville, CA, Sharon Jean Hicks, loving wife and mother, passed away at age 82.
Sharon was born on March 31,1940 in North Hollywood, CA to Jim and Hedy Martin. She graduated from Oroville High School, and from Chico State University. She was a teacher at Gridley High School, Palermo School, and Berry Creek School. On July 10, 1971, she married Charles Conrad Hicks, and had three children.
Sharon loved her home in Berry Creek where she lived with her husband for 49 years, kept a beautiful garden, and raised many animals including her beloved sheep. She was a devoted member of St. Thomas Catholic Church for over 50 years. After retiring from teaching, she developed a passion for painting, and was inspired by her garden flowers, birds, and local wildlife. She also loved camping with her family.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Charles, her three children, Michelle J. Costello, Eureka, CA; Charles M. Hicks, Vancouver, WA; and Kristina D. Doris, Chico, CA; and her siblings, Sister Diane Martin, Frankfort, IL; Wynn Mann, San Juan Capistrano, CA; Fred Martin, Oroville, CA; Cecilia Parsons, Ducor, CA; and Sue Davis, Yuba City, CA; and 7 grandchildren, Nathan Hicks, Sabrina Hicks, Chase Hicks, Justin Doris, Nicole Doris, Kevin Costello and Riley Costello.
Services will be held on Thursday, August 11, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Oroville. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Oroville.
