Robert “Bob” Delano Jeffords of Paradise, CA passed peacefully on May 12, 2023
Born January 12, 1938 in Alhambra, CA to Robert and Val Jeffords. The family moved to Paradise, CA in 1950 and the town became an important part of his legacy.
After earning a civil engineering degree from Chico State University, he joined and eventually took over the family business, Jeffords Electric.
He served as the 2nd mayor to the Town of Paradise and was a member of the town council for 14 years. Later in life, his adventurous spirit led to a broken neck from boogie boarding in Mexico and a career change to realtor at Johnson’s United Country Realty.
Bob made friends in all of his pursuits and was well known to many as a street rodder, archer, skier, poker player, dancer and bass player. His passion for building, racing, and showing his cars was a huge part of his life. He set many racing records, including the still standing 11.57 second quarter mile with a flathead V8 at the Fremont Raceway.
He had an uncanny passion for purple which was apparent in his race helmet, multiple cars, bass guitar, and his CB handle (Captain Purple) to name a fraction of his purple favorites.
Bob was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He is lovingly survived by his wife, MaryAnn, sister, Janice Honeywell children, Sheri Jeffords, Teresa (Steve Munjar), Bobbie Jo (Carsten Morris), Sean Jeffords (Karie) , Tracy (Miles Decker), and Jacob Tindill
Thirteen grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and Niece Cristina Becker.
He was preceded in death by his parents and younger sister, Debbie Becker, Niece Laurie Honeywell and Cousin Bill Cook.
Bob will be deeply missed, but his legacy and memory will live on in the town and hearts of family and friends that he loved so much.
