Robert Leroy Hallstrom

Robert (Bob) Leroy Hallstrom of Paradise, CA (moved to Oakdale, CA after the fire), passed away at the age of 103, on Sunday March 19. Bob was born in Webster, SD, December 5,1919 to William Albert and Mattie (Hegna) Hallstrom. 

As a teen, he moved to southern Calif to join the Navy Air Corps,and was stationed in the Aleutians during WW2, from 1942-1946. 

He moved his family from Burbank, CA to Paradise, in 1952, where he worked in Real Estate at Ponderosa. He was very involved in the Lutheran Church, and was part of the building of the original Our Savior Lutheran Church. He volunteered after he retired, and helped with handywork in the children's daycare, where he was known as Mr. Bob. He was very handy with wood, and loved to help repair their tables and bicycles in the preschool.He loved tomake beautiful wood gifts for family and friends. He loved to fish, and Winter in Yuma, AZ. 

Bob married Beverly Barr Smith in 2004, and lived in Magalia until 2018, when they relocated to Oakdale, CA. after the Paradise Fire. 

He is preceded by his first wife Emma Jean (Mullens),and two brothers and a sister; Dwayne( South Dakota), David (Scottsdale, AZ) and Virginia (South Dakota) Hallstrom. He is survived by his current wife Beverly (Barr) Hallstrom, formerly of Magalia,  son Eric (Kandy) of Eagle, ID, Grandson Kelly (Roxanne) and Great-Grandson Kalen (3), North Bend, WA. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, from CA to AZ, SD and MN.

Bob touched many lives in his 103 years, and will be missed by so many!

There will be a viewing at Rose Chapel, 12:00,Tuesday April 4, followed by Graveside Service at Paradise Cemetery, 2:30 pm.
