Robert “Bob” Mathew Andoe, 89, of Palermo, CA, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2022. Robert was born on December 24, 1932 to Teddie & Stella Andoe in Baxter, Missouri. Shortly after Robert was born, the family moved to Oroville and he remained a lifelong resident. He grew up enjoying the outdoors and especially loved hunting and fishing. He was a wonderful son and dearly loved his parents and siblings. After graduating from high school in 1950, he worked for the Union Pacific Railroad. During the Korean War he enlisted in the Navy and proudly served his country aboard the USS Manchester. After serving in the Navy, he began a 30 year career with Pacific Bell as a troubleshooter. In 1960, Bob married Mary Ellen Tompkins and they started their family. He was a devoted father to their three daughters: Susan, Kathy and Janet; and he loved being a grandpa to Ryan, Brittany, Jessica, Shelby, Stefan, Max, Natalie, and William. He never missed a game, hog show or any other special occasion. In recent years, his greatest joy has been the time he has spent with his great-grandchildren Kennedy, Tennessee, Logan and Dominic; and he was looking forward to the arrival of a new great-granddaughter in June. Bob was most happy spending time with his family. After his retirement from the phone company, he and Mary Ellen enjoyed traveling with friends and family. They especially enjoyed the Oregon Coast and traveled there as much as possible. Bob loved spending time at the family cabin fishing, gold panning and going for ice cream with his grandchildren. One of Bob’s favorite retirement activities was joining his brothers and other life-long friends for morning coffee at the local coffee shop. He also enjoyed gardening and we all loved the beautiful sweet peas, dahlias and peonies that he grew.
Bob is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Andoe and his daughters and son-in-laws, Susan & Russell Watts, Kathleen & Scott Nolind and Janet Andoe & Pony Krueger; his grandchildren (and great-grandchildren) Ryan & Sydney Coleman (Tennessee), Brittany & Taylor Trevino (Kennedy and Logan), Jessica & Ronnie Coon (Dominic), Shelby Watts, Stefan Krueger, Max Krueger, Natalie Nolind, and William Nolind; his brothers and sisters Allene Andoe, Gordon & Jane Andoe, Betty & Clifford Scheer, Ron Costa and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his beloved parents Teddie & Stella Andoe and his brother and sister Dwight & Dorelle Andoe, and his sisters Ruth Costa and Emma Sue Andoe in addition to aunt’s, uncles, cousins and grandparents.
Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, February 11, 2022 at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Oroville, CA.
