Richard Charles Del Prado, Jr. was born on June 5, 1941 in Des Moines, Iowa to Richard Charles Del Prado, Sr. and Christina Margarita (Rivas) Del Prado. He passed away at his home in Magalia on Friday, February 7, 2020.
Mr. Del Prado was an alter boy and Eagle Scout in his youth and served two years in the US Army followed by four years in the US Marine Corp. He worked at he Pittsburg Des Moines Steel Company during the construction of the Gateway to the West arch.
Owner of a small engine repair business for two years, Mr. Del Prado also worked for many years as a carpenter in residential construction and as a fork lift operator for five years. He was also a craftsman building children's furniture (rockers, tables, etc.) as well as some adult furniture.
A man of many talents, Mr. Del Prado was 'good at all of it' according to his family.
A resident of Magalia for 19 years, Mr. Del Prado lived in in Rancho Cordova prior to his retirement.
Mr. Del Prado is survived by his wife, Joan M. Del Prado of Magalia; daughter, LeAnn McCartan of Iowa; son, Ricky Del Prado of Iowa; brother, Robert Del Prado of Watsonville, CA; and sisters, Becky Del Prado of the Bay Area and Christina Pomeroy of the Palm Springs area.
Private inurnment will take place at the Northern California Veterans Cemetery in Igo, California.
