Norma Degmetich Obituary

On Friday, August 5, 2022, Norma Degmetich, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away at age 88.

Norma was born in San Francisco and attended San Jose State University, where she studied Education. On December 18, 1954 she married Mike Degmetich, who she had met at the United Service Organization. They settled in Santa Clara County, where they raised their two daughters and one son.

Norma always wanted to be a teacher, and she was able to teach in the elementary grades in San Jose and Los Gatos, including many happy years at Blossom Hill School. Norma and Mike loved to dance, and were active for many years in the square-dancing community.

After retiring, Norma and Mike moved to Magalia and built a life full of family and friends.

Norma was also active at St. Thomas More Church in Paradise, volunteering for leadership, activities, and coordinating donations for the church's food pantry.

Norma was known for her remarkable selflessness. Always smiling, loving, and caring. She had an uncanny ability of remembering people's names, birthdays, and special occasions; often sending greeting cards and gifts to make them feel special.

She was the rock of the family - steady, reliable, quietly compassionate, and always there. She will be greatly missed and mourned.

Norma is survived by her husband, Mike and children; Leia and Arthur, her grandchildren Raquel, Alex, Ashlyn and Jonah, and her great-granddaughter, Mila. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Michelle.
