Mary Louise Davis passed away unexpectedly on Thursday April 21st at the age of 86 years old. She was born in Greenwood Arkansas on July 11th to parents Linnie Hughes and John Willis Clark. A year after her birth, she and her parents moved to Poteau Oklahoma where she lived until her mother moved her to southern California in 1949. After moving to California, she met Jack Davis while working in the Orchard fields in San Jose where they fell in love and were married on February 5th, 1952. Shortly after they welcomed the first of their eight children on January 11th, 1953. Mary Louise and her family lived in the San Jose area until 1979 they moved with their youngest son to the town of Pike in the Sierra Nevada mountains. They lived in Pike until they moved to Rio Linda in 1985. Mary Louise and her husband Jack lived in Rio Linda until they moved in 1996 to their last residence in Bangor California where Jack and Mary Louise spent the rest of their lives together.
Mary Louise is best known for her love and dedication to not only her husband of 57 years but also to her children and grandchildren. One of the many ways she showed her love was through the many hours she spent in the kitchen cooking and baking for her family. When Mary Louise wasn’t taking care of her family, she was known to have her hands buried in the soil tending to her flower and vegetable gardens. She was a lover of animals. Including the hours, she spent enjoying watching her many hummingbirds that occupied her front porch in her later years of life. Mary Louise will be remembered by her eight children: Ronald, Sue, Joyce, Diane, Jack, Debbie, Sandra, and John. As well as her 24 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren on the way. Please join us on April the 29th at Scheer Memorial Chapel to remember and celebrate the life of Mary Louise Davis. Services will be held at noon; burial will be held at the Oroville Memorial Park Cemetery. Reception to follow at Bangor Park Hall.
