Margarette Sue Smith (95) passed away in Vista, CA, on Tuesday, June
17, 2025, at Angel’s Touch Care Home. She was born on May 25, 1930,
in La Junta CO. She relocated to California and attended Pasadena
Nazarene College (PLNU), where she graduated with a BA in education
and earned a teacher’s credential. While attending the same college she
met Paul Noble Frank Smith, they married on August 28, 1954. They
resided in Hermosa Beach and had two daughters (Renee & Kari).
Later, moving to Paradise CA., (49 years) Sue taught all primary grades
Kindergarten thru- fourth grade (37 years). After retirement, she
enjoyed traveling to Russia, Israel, and South Africa.
In 2018, Sue escaped the terrible “Camp Fire” losing everything but her
own life, Shadow her 18-year-old cat, and her Camry (later, named “The
Miracle Car”). She then lived with her daughter for two years in
Oceanside (CA), and later Angel’s Touch. A woman of Faith who
attended and served The Church of The Nazarene for many years. Her
last days she enjoyed reading, watching baseball (Padre games), doing
word searches, and visiting with family and friends.
Sue is survived by her two daughters Renee Smith, Redding (CA) & Kari
Lipe, Oceanside (CA), two grandsons Ethan and Evan Lipe, many nieces
and nephews, sisters Teresa Nelson (Connally), Charlene Connally and
LaVerne Spuriell (Connally)
