Margaret Jane Schwenger ( Marge ),
Passed away of natural causes on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at Compass Rose Memory Care in Chico, CA at the age of 97.
She was born the only daughter to Arthur and Margaret Hinzpeter on June 20, 1923 in St. Louis. MO.
She moved to California by herself, where she met her husband Richard Kenneth "K" Schwenger in San Francisco. They moved to Paradise, CA after retiring in the early seventies.
Marge was an avid animal activist and volunteered many hours at the Paradise Animal Shelter and veterinary clinic where she started the PASH Animal Project and was a member of the "In Defense of Animals" organization. Her passion for dogs was well know in the Paradise community. Especially her love for Katie, her latest pet dog that went missing during the Camp Fire and was never found.
After the Camp Fire in 2018, Marge was relocated to the Terraces Independent Living facility and eventually the Compass Rose Memory Care where she was loved and cared for with kindness and compassion from all of the staff and residents. She had also become friends with her interim care provider Cindy who took great care of Marge.
Marge leaves behind her many cousins from all over the United States and her Paradise friend Helga.
Marge was a feisty, loving kind woman who loved animals, enjoyed the outdoors and her home in Paradise. She always wanted to get back to Paradise and rebuild.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, August 6, 2020 at eleven o'clock in the morning at Paradise Cemetery.
