Marcia Gibbs Puett, 83, quietly passed away on October 21, 2023 in Chico, CA after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Marcia was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on November 2, 1939, to Barbara and Howard Gibbs. She was the oldest daughter of four.
Marcia was loved by all. She was a gentle soul and the glue of her family. Marcia was always bringing the family together and was there to help and support them whenever needed. You could always count on her for a card in the mailbox on your birthday or a call during those difficult times.
Marcia grew up in Bellevue, Washington, where she helped take care of her three rambunctious brothers. She had and raised four strong, independent daughters; while working to support her first husband’s dream of going to college. She later went on to graduate college herself and learned to fly where she met her husband and earned her pilot’s license.
Marcia loved to read, garden, shop and decorate. She was especially fond of a warm cup of tea and had an ever-growing collection of stuffed teddy bears. She had a great sense of humor and an endearing laugh that was always present. Marcia will always be remembered for her loving, kind and welcoming nature.
Marcia is survived by her beloved husband Garland Puett of 41 years. She is also survived by her four loving daughters, Cheryl Hubbell, Jill Russell, Suzan Hinds and Jackie Rierdan, one stepdaugther, Ginni May, two stepsons, Chris Puett and Tim Puett, and eight grandchildren.
Marcia is also survived by her three brothers, Jerry Gibbs, Michael Gibbs and Patrick Gibbs, and her sister in laws, Toni Gibbs, Laurie Gibbs and Colleen Gibbs, as well as their beautiful children and grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Barbara and Howard Gibbs.
There is a cup of tea in the microwave waiting for her up in heaven where her mind can roam freely now.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 26 at 3:00 P.M. at the Paradise Cemetery. A celebration of life will follow.
Donations may be made in Marcia’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association.
