John “Leonard” Costa, 89, of San Francisco, California, passed away on February 20, 2020, in Chico, California.

Len was born in San Francisco, California to Veronica Bochud and John Costa on October 4, 1930.  He married Elizabeth “Betty” Fleming on November 17, 1957.  Len and Betty enjoyed a loving and happy marriage of nearly 52 years, before her passing in 2009.

After graduating from Mission High School in San Francisco in 1949, Len played professional baseball for the New York Yankees minor league system, which was then followed by a long, rewarding career at United Parcel Service.  In his free time, he loved spending time with his family, playing golf and travelling the globe with his beautiful wife, Betty.  He will be remembered as a fun loving, giving and generous man who loved his family and had a zest for life.  He will surely be missed, but he will remain in our hearts forever.

Len is preceded in death by his wife Betty, his mother Veronica and Father John, and his sister, Dorothy.

Len is survived by his son Robert, daughter Sharon and son-in-law David, grandsons Matthew and Christopher, and great-grandchildren Noah, Elyse, Austin and Isabelle.

Funeral services and burial will be held at Paradise Cemetery on February 28, 2020 at 11am, with Dave Bruns of Paradise Alliance Church officiating.   Arrangements are by Rose Chapel Mortuary.
