Leona Bell Cooley passed away peacefully Monday December 12th, after a long battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. Leona was born January 3rd, 1928, to Ervin Sam and Avis Leona Paulette in Perrysburg, Ohio. In 1945 at the age of 17 Leona Married her husband, of 74 years, Homer Cooley.
The summer of 1957 Leona and her family moved to Oroville. Leona attended Beauty School and worked in an Oroville salon until the birth of her youngest child I 1960. Leona valued education and completed high school thru adult ed classes. She went onto receive an AA degree from Butte College. Leona worked at home for over 10 years, in her shop operating an industrial sewing machine making horse blankets.
Leona enjoyed making her own clothes, baking, canning and working in her flower garden, especially the roses. She was a hardworking, devoted wife and mother. Leona loved the Lord and her family fiercely. One of her deepest desires was for her family to know the value of having a personal relationship with the Lord, Jesus.
Leona is preceded in death by her husband, Homer J. Cooley, her siblings, her son Ron and grandchildren Corey and Carissa. Leona is survived by 3 of her children, Linda, Sherry and Steven. Her 9 grandchildren, Bryant, Paul, Juliet, Joshua, Ezra, Jonathan, Aaron, Ryan and Damon, also 10 great-grandchildren, Kasey, Ryan, Reese, London, Ethan, James, Tyler, Kayla, Abigail and Gracie.
We would like to thank all who were such a great help and blessing to Leona thru the past few years especially her son Steven and granddaughter-in-law Jessy.
