Justina (Tina) Ann Neumann Bartel 1927-2023
Born at home in Farmington, Wisconsin June 21, 1927. Tina was 95 years old. She grew up on a dairy
farm in and was the 8 th child in a family of 9. She graduated from High School in Osceola, Wisconsin and
went on to graduate as an administrative secretary from the University of Minnesota in 1947. She then
moved to Oakland, California, where she worked as an administrative secretary for many large
corporations. She was named Queen of Industry in Oakland, CA as she excelled in her career as an
Administrative Secretary. In 1950 she married Clayton Bartel, and they later moved to Oroville, CA in
1956. Tina and her husband founded Bartel’s Welding located on Oro Dam Blvd. in Oroville, California in
1964 where she continued working in the business until 2001.
Tina volunteered in many organizations in Oroville including VFW, Moose Club, Eagles, Elks, Cooties and
the Monday Club. She also was an active member in St. Thomas Church where she belonged to the
Alter Society and the Relief Society. Tina was a very generous and kind person, who often volunteered
to take the elderly, and others who couldn’t drive to church, organizational meetings and errands. She
often volunteered her time visiting the infirmed who resided in long term or elder care facilities. Tina
was always generous with her time regarding her family, her church and her community.
Tina was well traveled and enjoyed visiting the Middle East and the Holy Land, Australia, Caribbean,
Europe, Mexico as well as extensive travel across the United States.
Preceded in life by her daughter Joyce Bartel, husband Clayton Bartel and son James Bartel.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, John Bartel, Jean Bartel Bjork and son-in-law Donald
Bjork, Joan Bartel Louderback and son-in-law Michael Louderback, ten grandchildren and eleven great
grandchildren who will miss her greatly. She was well loved by her large family, and many nieces and
nephews.
In lieu of flowers she asks us to please donate to St. Thomas School in Oroville or The Catholic Ladies
Relief Society charitable organization. Funeral Service is at 10 am next Wednesday the 24th at 10:00 am
at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Oroville, CA. A Rosary will be held next Tuesday night the 23 rd at Scheer
