John Fleming Obituary

John Fredric “Fred” Fleming passed away peacefully on October 7, 2023, at the Oroville Hospital Post Acute Center. Fred was born June 12, 1948, in Klamath Falls, Oregon. He was the second of 5 children born to Jack and Anna Belle Fleming. A celebration of life will be scheduled later. Fred will be buried at Picard Cemetery, Dorris, California.

Fred was a Vietnam War Veteran and served in the U.S. Army Infantry with the rank of Sergeant. Fred faithfully served the Lord for over 40 years at the Springs of the Living Water / Youth With A Mission in Chico, California. He was an enrolled member of the Klamath Tribe (Klamath-Modoc-Yahooskin).  

Fred is survived by his beloved wife of almost 53 years, Paulette Modey Fleming (Oroville, CA). He is also survived by his cherished four daughters and son-in-law: Annette Fleming (Sofia, Bulgaria), Melissa Bowers (Sacramento, CA), Emily Fleming (Sacramento, CA), and Shannon and Brian Evans (Oroville, CA).  Fred was a proud grandfather to three grandchildren: Justis Bowers Daigler and her husband Matthew, Joseph “JC” Bowers, and Ryder Evans. He recently became a proud great-grandfather of twin boys: Frederick John Daigler and Theodore Joseph Daigler. 

Fred is survived by two brothers and two sisters, Dennis Fleming, Chuck Fleming, Joanna Spannaus, and Teresa Fleming, and numerous sisters and brothers in law, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son-in-law Joseph Bowers, and granddaughter Marlee Evans. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions in honor of Fred’s life of service to the Lord may be made in his name to either/both of the following: Oroville Christian School Scholarship Fund, 3785 Olive Hwy, Oroville, CA 95966 (ocseagles.com) or Bradshaw Christian School (noted to the Joseph Bowers’ Scholarship Fund), 9555 Calvine Road, Sacramento CA 95829 (bradshawchristian.com).
