Jimmie Dean Higgins, 90, passed away February 22, at the home he built in Paradise, under Hospice care. He was born December 8 in Vandalia, Illinois to Joseph and Hazel Higgins. Jim is survived by his wife of 46 yeas, Joyce (Nunn) Higgins whom he married on July 7, 1979 in Paradise.
Jim was in construction most of his life and framed many homes and apartment complexes in both Southern and Northern California. He worked many years for Mel Bolin in the Paradise/Chico area.
Jim and Joyce enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping in the High Lakes, but in later life, his favorite pass time was his garden.
Jim also leaves his first wife, Ruby Owens of Florida.
Three daughters: Brenda Higgins of Long Beach, CA, Kelly (David) Biele of Jacksonville, FL and Marci (John) Bruehl of Trabuco Canyon, CA.
Step-daughter Janet (Ken) Taylor
Grandchildren: Cassy, Natalie, Joseph, Garret, Lauren, Justin, Alexis and Eric.
Step-Grandchildren: Andrew and Kris
Several Great Grandchildren.
No service is planned at this time. His ashes will be buried in Paradise Cemetery at a later date.
