Gary Grant Nagle, of Oroville, CA, passed away om <ay 10 th , 2025 at Oroville Hospital
surrounded by family. Born August 15 th in St. Joseph, MO. He was the youngest of 9
siblings, born to Edna and Harry Nagle.
As a teenager Gary moved to Taft, CA to live with his older sister and her family. He
graduated from Taft High School in 1957, then moved to the Sacramento area and
attended Sacramento Jr College. After earning his Journeyman’s Carpenter Certificate
he entered the construction industry, building homes in the Sacramento area.
He met the love of his life, Carolyn, through a mutual friend in Paradise, CA. They
married in 1961. Their daughter Julie followed in 1962, and their son Gary in 1963.
While Carolyn finished college, he worked on the construction of the Oroville Dam.
When Carolyn got a teaching position in Feather Falls, Gary worked at the Georgia
Pacific sawmill. When the mill moved to Oroville, he continued with the sawmill until
retiring in 1998.
Gary’s life interests included fishing with his best friend, bowling, golf, running, traveling,
yard work, and mostly family time. He was an avid sports enthusiast, he loved the
Raiders, A’s, Warriors, as well as being a sports participant throughout his life.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Carolyn, daughter Julie Jackson of NC, son Gary
(Milena), grandchildren Heather, Cody (Paige), and Dusty (Mary), Jackson, and Marvin
Nagle. Great grandchildren Abigail and Colt Jackson were the extra joy in his later life.
Also surviving are brother-in-law Howard Whitver and quasi siblings Chuck McDaniel
(Wyleta) and Joyce Ayers (John) of the Sacramento area. Gary was preceded in death
by his son-in-law Darrell Jackson. Gary will be forever remembered by his family and
his long time friends.
Graveside service will be held Friday, May 23 rd at 10 am, at Memorial Park Cemetery iin
Oroville. Scheer Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Friends are cordially
invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, you may contribute to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital,
the Oroville Las Plumas High School Scholarship fund, or a charity of your choice.
