Obituary

Edward Correira was born September 26, 1929 in Oakland, CA to Manuel and Mabel Correira. He was an only child and the first generation of his Portuguese family born in America. He spent his childhood in Oakland and graduated from Castlemont High School. After working on the Oroville Dam for 5 years, his career path was working as a Parts Manager for various farm and heavy equipment construction companies. Ed made Oroville his home for close to 50 years. He owned Correira's Palermo Feed and Garden for 6 years before retiring.

It's hard to summarize 93 years into just a few paragraphs, so here are just a few outstanding highlights of his life. Ed was a trout fisherman and deer hunter. Among his many interests, he loved to work in his garden, play cards and spent many RV trips driving up the coast into Oregon. On his 7 acre ranch he raised cows, pigs and chickens. Ed turned needed projects into family "party" gatherings. Everything from branding the cows, painting a barn, mending barbed wire fences, cleaning out the pond, and many construction projects. He made these "projects" fun and all were included, willing and anxious to help. Ed had family traditions too. For several years, Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends were spent at Lake Antelope on camping trips with his family and close friends. He was always the "life of the party" and made sure everyone was included in all the camping festivities, sometimes even making up games so that all were included. Every July 4th he had a huge shish kabob BBQ in his yard and delighted all his children and grandchildren with fireworks in the cow pasture. Christmas was his favorite Holiday and for many years over 20 family members celebrated and stayed at his home for several days. Because of his robust, fun personality, family and friends loved being around him and looked forward to the next gathering. Family was always his first and foremost love. He just made life fun.

Ed is survived by his wife Patricia, children Nanci (Jocko), Jodi (JIm), Frank (Brenda) and step daughter Kim (Craig). He has 7 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 3 fifth generation great, great grandchildren.
