David Leroy Hicks passed away suddenly on August 13, 2021 at Oroville Hospital eleven days before a milestone birthday. He was born to Rose and Frank Hicks in Vallejo, CA and spent his younger years in the Vacaville-Winters area. Upon graduation from Winters High School, he joined the U.S. Army and completed his basic training at Fort Ord, CA. He was stationed in Hawaii for two years until his discharge.
Over his life span, he worked in varied occupations and also did volunteer work. He was a resident of Oroville for 27 years, having lived in Sacramento prior to his move to Oroville in 1994. David enjoyed acrylic painting and 50s & 60s music. He was industrious, having many skills in home renovation and auto mechanics and always liked taking on new challenges.
David is survived by his sisters, Marjorie Topacio of San Diego, CA and Katherine Brite of Stonyford, CA; his brother Steven Hicks (Kimberly) of Winters, CA; numerous nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, Mary Todd Hicks of Oroville, CA. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Rose Hicks of Winters, CA; his first wife, Barbara Reno McKnight Hicks of Sacramento, CA and second wife, Laurie Kalb Hicks of Oroville, CA; and his brothers, Robert Hicks of Oroville, CA and Wayne Hicks of Sacramento,CA.
A private family service will be held at Scheer Memorial Chapel in Oroville, CA.
