David Brown Obituary

David Lee Brown
1932 - 2021
David Lee Brown - a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, a Pastor to hundreds, a Mentor to many, a Friend to all, went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 8, 2021 in Oroville, California.  He was 88.
Born December 24, 1932 in San Bernardino, California to John Gilliam Brown and Sylvia E. Evans.
Dave loved his country and served Honorable in the US Armed Forces from 1955 - 1957.  He continued his Service in the Army National Guard until 1960.
During his lifetime, Dave worked as a lumber worker in a mill and felling trees.
His life began a new chapter at Marysville Business College when he received a degree for Accounting in February 1965.
Dave loved to Pastor.  He dearly loved to share the good news and bring people to the Lord.
He was an avid fisherman and hunter.  He was just as at home in the outdoors with a fishing rod in his hands, as he was with a bible in his hands at the pulpit.
Dave started his spiritual journey when he was saved at the age of 29, when he was invited to church by his children’s babysitter,  Minnie Myers, affectionally called Granny Myers. This would shape and define his life until the end. His beginnings as a new Christian began in The Assembly Of God Church as a deacon, young adult bible class leader, royal ranger leader, head usher, preaching at hospital services, and preaching at rescue missions and jail services.  It wasn’t long before he started serving as a Pastor for the Pentecostal Church of God where many sought his advice and benefited from his counsel. During his tenor as A Pastor, he had the privilege of officiating countless baby dedications, births, weddings, and laying to rest generations of families. He built several churches from the ground up, mentored Pastors, and will be remembered for his powerful testimony, his unfailing work ethic, his generous smile, and his willingness to come at any time day or night to help a neighbor in need.
Dave's memory will be cherished and kept alive by his loving wife of 68 years, Wanda Marie Brown, his children, Robert Mayfield, Roy Brown, Carolyn Chew, David Brown, daughter-in-law, Terry Brown, son-in-law, Kelly Chew, his multiple Grandchildren and Great grandchildren, his sisters Wanda Hilmer, Sharon Jones-Eutsler, Sandy Farley, and brother Ronnie Howell.  He was preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda Thaute, his brother, John Brown (J.D.), and sister, Christine Calderia.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Dave’s life.
The viewing will be held on Tuesday, March 16, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Scheer Memorial Chapel, 2410 Foothill Blvd., Oroville, Ca.
Services will be held on Wednesday, March 17, 10:00 a.m., at New Life Church, 965 Grand Ave., Oroville, Ca.1932 - 2021
