Betty Jane Corbaley

Betty Jane Corbaley passed away quietly Dec. 17, 2020 in a Chico care home.

She was born Elizabeth Jane Speer May 16, 1922, the middle girl of the Speer family.

Betty was born in Alliance Nebraska to Clyde and Claire Speer. They moved to Kettleman Hills, Ca. then to Ventura, CA. She attended Ventura Elementary and High School and 2 years at Ventura Jr. College.

She married H. Craig Corbaley April 12, 1941. The Corbaley family moved to Cloverdale, CA then to Oroville in 1946.

Betty and Craig had two children: Kathleen Corbaley Nichols (Carl) and John Craig Corbaley (Michelle). John passed away in 2015 following a brief illness.

Betty loved to sew, knit and crochet and was wonderful at each activity. She also loved to make crafts with her best friend Barbara Whittaker. They made items for sale at the Episcopal Church annual Christmas Bazaar. She and Craig were very active in the church until his death in 2007.

Betty worked with the Red Cross through 1955. She then went to work for Dr. Roy Bourquin, an orthodontist, as his secretary/helper. When doctor retired Betty went to work for Central Bank then US Bank as a teller.

Betty and Craig loved to travel and flew to Hawaii upon her retirement. Her sister Lorayne and brother-in-law Allyn driove across the United States and back taking about 4 months for their adventure.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband Craig, her son, John; and her sisters Lorayne Connelly and Charlotte Lee.

No service is planned and she will be interred with Craig in the Oroville cemetary.
