Longtime Paradise resident Albert Waelbrock passed away on May 13, 2021 at the age of 88. He faced the final days with courage and a smile. Al came out a hero and stayed strong until the end. He was surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor his legacy by making the most of each and every day.
He was born in California on March 25, 1933. He was raised in a loving family with three brothers: Chuck, Oscar and Ray and one sister Irma. The family attended a church picnic and social event where Al met the love of his life, Dottie. they were married November 26, 1955 and spent 65 happy years together.
Al and Dottie raised four children: Debbie, Alan, Dave and Mark in Paradise, CA. Al teamed up with his brother Ray and built many quality homes together.
The simplest pleasures brought happiness to Al. He loved the outdoors and nature's beauty. He enjoyed camping and hunting but his favorite hobby was to fish. It did not matter if it was fresh or salt water, lake, pond or puddle he enjoyed it all. With stories to match each trip that always got better and bigger like the fish over the years.
He always had a sunny disposition and loved to interact with others. He used to say a stranger is just a friend you haven't met yet. His personality was contagious to everyone he met. He loved helping people especially after he retired. He was raised Catholic and was an active parishioner. He always helped at St. Thomas More church with fundraisers, BBQ's, picnics and more. His favorite was Friday night bingo.
He loved to bowl for the joy of the game and the friends he made through leagues and tournament play. He also played softball will his boys and son-in-law Bill. He was known for his pitches and the sound he made that accompanied the action.
He is survived by by his loving wife Dottie, his brother Ray, his four children, six grandchildren: Ryan, Derick, Chad, Jessica, Spencer and Carson, and five great grandchildren: Zoe, Kennedy, Ali, Baron and Sequoia.
We will celebrate his life on June 10, 2021 starting with a rosary at 10:00 and mass at 10:30 A.M. at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Followed by a graveside service at Paradise Cemetery and a celebration of life at the Sharrett's 6226 Graham Rd. Paradise, CA. All are welcome to come to all or part.
