Alan Barceloux Obituary

Alan E. Barceloux

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, September 3, 2022 at the Elks Lodge in Willows at 11:00 A.M.  Alan passed away peacefully at his his home in Willows, CA at the age of 76.

Alan was born December 6, 1945 in Santa Paula, CA to Edgar and Elaine ( Eddie ). Like many couples from that era, Alan's parents met while in the tribulations of WWII and the aftermath.

As a young child, Alan's parents and his two sisters Marianne ( Greer ) and Carol ( Barceloux ) lived on the family ranch in Middletown, CA., in Lake County until 1956 when the family moved to Willows, CA to open Barceloux Brothers Auto Parts store.  Although Alan's passion was in Mechanical Engineering and attended Sacramento State, Chico State and his favorite, Susanville College, Alan returned to Willows to help his family manage the auto parts store where he stayed until the store was sold in 1993.  During those years, Alan and family had the privilege of sharing time with employees that became like family along with the many customers and local farmers that supported them in their business.  Alan went on to work at Napa Auto Parts store in Orland where he retired.

Alan served 4 years in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam war where he worked on airplanes. His love for airplanes never waned.  his collection of books in regards to aviation and military experiences can confirm his passion.

Like his father, Alan was a life long Elk for over 50 years and spent some time as treasurer. He was an active member until his death. Many happy times were spent at the Willows Elks Lodge: including dinners and dances, plays with local actors, and many other activities that supported the local community.

While Alan's hobbies were numerous: such as hiking and camping out in the nearby Mendocino forest, along with wood working projects at home, he, like his mother, loved to travel to foreign countries such as Egypt, Jordon, Cambodia, Thailand, Morocco and Turkey to name a few. His last major trip was to Iceland and Greenland in 2017.

Alan is survived by his wife: Judy ( Howard ) whom he married at St. Mary's Catholic Church in San Jose, CA on November 12, 1977,, along with his son, John, ( Julie ), two Grandchildren Jake and Libby, a step son Richard and Granddaughter, Aungelia, and his sister Marianne ( Rod ), two nieces, Heather and Erin and many family members and dear friends.

Alan was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Elaine and his sister Carol Barceloux.
