Peter L. Corchero, 98, formerly of Paradise, passed away November 8 in Chico.
Born in 1921 in Mayfield, CA to Bernardo Corchero and Calistra Lopez Corchero, Pete was one of 8 Children: Pete served in WWII in the Army Air Corp. He later attended college in Berkeley and earned his CPA degree, working many years for Hunt-Wesson/ Con Agra Foods in Hayward and Fullerton.
He married Mildred Martin in 1944 and together they raised their three children: James of Bakersfield, Barbara Karges ( Steven ) of Walnut Creek and Andrea Brinson ( James ) of Durham.
Pete retired in 1982 and he and Millie moved to Paradise, enjoying the home they had built among th tall trees until the Camp Fire took it from them one year ago. This past year Pete and Millie have lived in Chico. They celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary in May.
Pete is survived by his wife and children, granddaughter Amber Hayes ( Travis ), great grandchildren Colt and Tempe, all or Durham, sister Victoria Romero of Hayward, brother in-inlaw Steve Martin of Tracy and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents and brothers Manual, Carl, Ray and Dan and sisters Eva and Mary.
Pete was a loving father and hsband, instilling his wonderful work ethic in his three children, but always outing his family first. He had been a faithful Christian his entire life, and member of Paradise Lutheran Church. He was a kind, considerate and gentle man to the end.
A graveside service will be held Friday, November 22 at 1:00 P.M. at the Paradise Cemetery, 980 Elliot Road, followed by a reception at the fellowship hall at Paradise Lutheran Church, 780 Skyway, Paradise.
