Lucille Vandervort Obituary

Lucille Kay Walker Vandervort passed away on March 25, 2018 surrounded by her family. Born in Richmond, California in 1942 to Frank & Verona Walker, she is survived by her two favorite sisters, Anna Tisch and Cherlyn Nylander. Lucille, and then-husband, Dennis Vandervort, moved their family to Oroville in 1969. She would always spend her best moments with her children: Kevin Vandervort, Ken (& Karen) Vandervort, Steve (& Connie) Vandervort, and Sherri Vandervort.

Known for her grand Christmases, Lucille was generous and touched everyone with kindness. She was a loving Grandmother of seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren: Keyna Grace, Cory Sterling, Kileen Nicole, Robyn Lee, Katelyn Marie, Rebecca Kay, and Kaisi Darlene. Emma, Ano, Finley, Ian, and Owen will miss their Great Grandma. “Auntie Lou” to numerous nieces and nephews, she especially loved the family stories.

Lucille was a Medical Transcriptionist for Oroville Hospital for 25 years before retiring in 2004. She loved genealogy, family history and pictures, and road trips to family celebrations. Music was a big part of her life and still enjoyed piano lessons at the age of 75. She was light on her feet and grabbed every chance to dance with her boys.

Memorial Service will be held at Purple Line Urban Winery (760 Safford St, Oroville), on Saturday April 14th at 11am. A Celebration of Life will be held immediately following at Union Square (Miner’s Alley Brewing Co, 2053 Montgomery St, Oroville).
Lucille Vandervort was Much-Loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
