Fred Cosgrove

Fred Cosgrove died September 13, 2017 in his home in Palm Springs, CA. An only child, Fred was born January 8, 1934 in Glendale, Arizona to Ed and Virginia Cosgrove. Fred was raised in Monterey Park, CA and graduated from Mark Keppel High School. He served in the United States Air Force then went to Mortuary College, graduating from California College of Mortuary Science in Los Angeles in 1958. The same year, Fred moved to Paradise and became co-owner of Rose Chapel Mortuary. In 1967, he purchased Scheer Memorial Chapel in Oroville from the Scheer family. Both firms continue to be owned and operated by the Cosgrove Family.

Fred was preceded in death by his wife, Joanne and parents. Locally, Fred is survived by daughters Pam (Brian) Gray, Kim (Nathan) Hurst; grandchildren Amanda Wall, Cori (Trevor) Mee, Megan (Justin ) Wagner, Dylan Ponder & Casey Ponder; and great grandchildren Ella Porter and Jeffrey, Jack and Ember Nagel.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 22 at 3:00 PM at Rose Chapel Mortuary. Private inurnment will take place at Paradise Cemetery
