Eugene Felix Esparza

Eugene Felix Esparza  - November 12, 1932 to December 2017

Eugene Felix Esparza, 85, of Oroville, California, passed away on December 20, 2017, in his home surrounded by loved ones.  Gene was born to Felix and Lydia Esparza, in Santa Barbara, CA.  Gene relocated to South San Francisco, CA, with family, where he met his high school sweetheart, Lavena Redman.  Gene & Lavena married and raised three children, Linda (Rick Hunter), Alana (Randy Meline), and Mitch (Paula Esparza).  Gene is also survived by a multitude of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, sisters, Lydia and Aggie, and friends who love him dearly.

Gene and Lavena relocated to Oroville in 1978, where he eventually retired from the U.S. Postal Service after more than 40 years of service.  Gene’s athletic ability in school carried forward to his love of the SF Giants and SF 49ers.  He was an avid hunter, fisherman, card player, golfer, and gracious host to anyone who had the pleasure of his company. 

Lavena preceded him in death in 2011, and we are all certain they are having a reunion dance in heaven.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, please raise your glass of wine or Budweiser and salute Gene in heaven.
