Dale Edward Dunlap

Dale was born July 31, 1932 in Hammond, Indiana and passed at age 91 on January 28, 2024 in Chico, Ca. Dale's parents, Howard and Evelyn Dunlap moved their family to Burbank, Ca. in 1936.  He was a resident of Paradise, CA for 48 years. He knew no strangers serving the community with his "Dale’s Firewood" business. He loved all sports and in 1950 played baseball, and basketball in Letterman's Club and football at John Burroughs High in Burbank, Ca.  Dale joined the U.S. Navy in 1952- 54 and was on the USS De Haven (DD-727) during the Korean War. On August 2nd, 1952 he married his high school sweetheart, Patsy L. Prince, and went on to graduate from Fresno State University in 1958 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture. Dale moved his young family to Visalia, Ca. then to Williams, Ca. in 1958, where he lived his dream as a Farmer for 18 yrs. He grew various crops in the area and owned Dunlap Seed Company. Dale was a Little League Baseball coach, and on a bowling team in the 60's and 70's. He was honored to play in the Senior Softball World Series in 1989 at Greensboro, N.C. He loved raising and racing his thoroughbred racehorses and restoring classic cars. He also enjoyed listening to the "Gaither Vocal Band " music and the artist Alan Jackson.

Dale is survived by his wife Pat Dunlap of 71 years, his sister Marilyn Patricia "Pat" Sorensen, (Paul), sister Beverly Marlin, brother Robert "Bob" Dunlap, (Soni) as well as his children Mal Dunlap (Susan), Lyn Moore, (Steve), Diana DeSpain (Michael), Dawn Swithenbank, (Nick). Dale is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and thirty-four great grandchildren.

Dale will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a very friendly, calm and pleasant man who was easy going and lighthearted. He is now rejoicing in the presence of God and his heavenly family.

Graveside services will be held on February 9th at 11:00 am at Paradise Cemetary (Nunneley Rd entrance) with a Celebration of Life Immediately following at 

Paradise Ridge Southern Baptist Church, 6975 Pentz Rd, Paradise, CA
